Hydraulic pumps are used to convert mechanical force into power. They are positive displacement pumps, which are pumps that transfer a fixed amount of pressurized fluid into a hydraulic system. The system then uses the pressurized fluid to power an application. Hydraulic pumps come in gear, piston, and vane forms. Gear pumps use gear teeth to force fluid to flow around the gears and become pressurized. Piston pumps, which are typically either axial or radial, use pistons and a cylinder block or shaft to generate torque. Vane pumps use vanes to move hydraulic fluid until it reaches the required pressure.
